Meet Brenda

Welcome, it’s nice to meet you! I am Brenda Yuen, a practicing nationally certified counselor (NCC) and licensed graduate professional counselor (LGPC) in the state of Maryland. I received my counseling graduate degree from Johns Hopkins University and my past experience has been working with adolescents, families, couples, and adults in individual, couple, and group (outpatient) settings.

My passions include adoption issues (including international adoption), anxiety, and depression, along with self-esteem and anger issues. I am also passionate about helping with grief and loss (including pet grief, and chronic health conditions). I love assisting with relationship and couples’ communication and connection issues that can fray the fabric of a happy life together. I am also experienced helping individuals who have experienced childhood traumas or are coping with extended dysfunctional family. I value sharing psycho-educational information and other value-added knowledge with my clients to empower them. No matter your struggles, I am equipped to listen, to understand, to validate, and to help jump start your healing process and recovery.

If you feel stuck in your relationship or your life, please reach out. I have early afternoon and early evening appointments available on Mondays, Tuesdays, as well as lunchtime, afternoon, and early evening appointments available on Wednesdays. Let’s work together to bring change and healing to your life. A safe and welcoming environment without judgment is waiting for you when you feel ready. Live your fullest and best life, and don’t let your struggles keep you and/or you and your partner from a richer, fuller,
and healthier future.

When not helping others, I spend my free time with my husband of twenty years, and our two teenage children, who were adopted internationally. I also enjoy reading, traveling, connecting with friends and family, and trying out a delicious meal from one of many local restaurants, or made right at home.
